| RIVA DEL GARDA, ITALY-(10-8-2005) More than 110 COMPETITORS from 21 countries ready to participate in the INTERNATIONAL 420 Class Junior European Championship that will take place at Fraglia Vela Riva in the marvelous surround of lake Garda. The Opening Ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow the 11th at 18.30 on the Fraglia Vela Riva Terrace.
On August the 12th at 15.00 first warning signal for the practice race. The Championship will begin on August the 13th , first warning signal at 13.00. Qualifying series will be held on in two sets of three races in which each fleet races once with each of the other three fleets. Boats will be assigned to one of the 2 final series fleets on the basis of their qualifying series scores. Boats with the half best qualifying-series scores will race all final series races in the GOLD fleet, boats with the rest-best qualifying series scores will race in the SILVER fleet. If the total number of boats is odd number, the half upper round number of boats will be assigned in the GOLD fleet. In total 17 races scheduled in 6 days.
Nino Shmueli, the President of the International 420 Class Association himself , pays the Fraglia Vela Riva organization compliments for the record of entries and writes . “Well done, Fraglia!” “never had so many competitors!!”
Weather conditions are wonderful, sun is shining but most of all wind is blowing at a constant speed of 25 knots ! Sailors ? Happy and enthusiastic for the wind !
